About my Professional Background I have a PhD in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University, an MBA from Morehead State University, a Masters degree from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College. In my years in computing, I have participated in the explosive growth of the Internet, the advent of the World Wide Web and am now exploring the ideologies and technologies of Web 2.0. My work in computing architectures has evolved from my first days of working with punch cards and mainframes to the distributed environments exemplified by today’s Service Oriented Architectures. My primary interests are emerging information technologies and my connection with technologies resides in my prior work in healthcare information systems. I have worked in industry and in academe. I am currently a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. I am passionate about my teaching and engaging students in research in the ever-changing field of information systems. One of the projects I am currently working on is the development of animated courseware to teach database concepts. The software animations have all been developed by students who I supervise with my colleague, Dr. Mario Guimaraes. I have served in various capacities in professional associations including the Southern Association for Information Systems and the International Academy of Information Systems. I have been recognized as the Distinguish Teacher of the College of Science and Mathematics and a semi-finalist as Women of the Year in Technology in Georgia. |
