Partnerships:

An interdisciplinary workshop for faculty in Business, Economics, Finance, and Mathematics

Indiana University, Bloomington, July 11-16, 1999

Teams of faculty will build cross-disciplinary partnerships and work together on interdisciplinary materials to use in teaching courses at their home institutions.

Goals:

Form institutional teams to collaborate on interdisciplinary materials
Study interdisciplinary materials in Business, Economics, Finance, and mathematics developed by NSF-sponsored projects
Adopt/Adapt/Develop materials for use in your courses

Content:

Topics appropriate for the undergraduate curriculum that combine business and mathematics in interesting and significant ways
Interactive workshops led by faculty who have developed interdisciplinary materials in Business, Economics, Finance, and Mathematics
Working with your colleagues on previously developed as well as original materials
Collaboration with other teams

Participants:

Teams of 2-4 must include at least one mathematics faculty and one faculty from a business area

Support:

Room and board provided for all participants; limited travel funds available

Applications accepted until May 15,1999

Sponsored by the Mathematics Association of America with funding from the National Science Foundation

Partnerships fosters collaboration among faculty from different disciplines to rely on their partners' expertise to develop and use interdisciplinary materials.
