Our Survey
Let us know what are your community lake management concerns and issues. You may also add a concern or issue. We will compile the results by watershed and will rank the issues facing Georgia's
lake community associations.

Water Quality and Habitat Monitoring and Enhancement
One of the very first priorities of LHA will be to finalize our monitoring protocols. Our citizen-based monitoring services will allow for local collection water quality data that will be useful for local water management and/or state water quality assessment. We will collaborate in facilitating Adopt-A-Lake and Get the Dirt Out training workshops for lake community associations. We will provide training for fish and wildlife habitat assessment and enhancement projects, visual watershed assessment, and testing water quality for nutrients, turbidity and e-coli levels. On line monitoring data entry will be available for our members.

Lake Management Support
We will work with Georgia Lakes Society to offer our members an "Ask the Lake Experts" web feedback, it will assist our members in finding solutions for managing their community lakes.

To help met our members' lake management needs we will furnish contacts for local service providers.

Please visit the join now page to register your lake, it is a free service.

Section 319 Nonpoint Source Funding:
We are our concerned that Georgia does not directly allocate federal funding to nonprofit conservation organizations. For instance, Minnesota provides citizen volunteers funds to complete the monitoring needed to meet assessment requirements on lakes, and Wisconsin offers Lake Management Planning grants. Georgia allocates their federal funds to local governments, and encourages nonprofit conservation organizations to partner with their local government programs. This policy hinders watershed stewardship efforts, and dictates government supported projects and water quality education program, which limits citizen-based initiatives.
