Location of Conference:

Columbus offers a variety of fine attractions: the State Theatre of Georgia, the historic Springer Opera House; the nation's only Civil War Naval Museum; the National Infantry Museum, and the Columbus Museum.  Planned in the early 1800s when the riverboat was the popular way to travel, Columbus, on the Chattahoochee River, has preserved much of the original city in a 26-block National Register Historic District. The Riverwalk is a 12-mile linear park that stretches along the river from Uptown Columbus to Ft. Benning. Columbus is served by four major airlines and is located at the center of 20 of Georgia's major attractions, including nationally-renowned Callaway Gardens and  Roosevelt's Little White House.   For more information on Columbus and the surrounding area, follow the links below:

The Columbus Iron Works was located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in the Columbus Historic District.  Organized in 1853, it was built near the steamboat landing in the heart of the growing community.  Today the buildings are a local landmark in the downtown area and houses the Columbus, Georgia Convention and Trade CenterThe old brick walls, huge timbers and exposed ceilings, representing the best of 19th century craftsmanship, create an ambience unknown to modern construction.  Nearby are first-class sleeping accommodations, restaurants, and entertainment facilities.

The Historic Columbus Marriott is built around an original grist mill, a red brick mill that began operations in 1861. A national landmark, the mill side was previously occupied by several cotton companies from 1847 until the first mill opened in 1861. The original brick was restored and converted into part of the hotel known as the Columbus Marriott. This part of the hotel houses two two-story suites with loft bedrooms, three meeting rooms, the Grist Mill Coffee Shop and Houlihan's restaurant, preserving the historic character of the century-old building.  The hotel is within easy walking distance to Riverwalk,  entertainment and historic district, and is right across the street from the convention center.
