GUIDELINES FOR WEB PAGES ON THE SCIENCE AND MATH SERVER

No dangling links!  Any incomplete page should have a note to that effect. Any "home page" for a department, individual, project, or organization should have an email address at the bottom.  All of these should link back to either a department page or the school page. Any other page should have a link back to a page with the email address on it. Use only relative links for local files.  Do not specify the server or any unneeded directory structure.  This maintains maximum portability. Do not use upper/lower case to distinguish files in the same location.  This will break if moved to Macintosh or Windows machines. Projects where multiple people are working should either have a group assigned or have a single person placing the material on the server.  Multiple people should not use the same account. Graphics should be limited on main pages, with a warning as to file size for any large files. Text alternatives to all graphical links should be included. Use the standard structure including beginning and ending tags for HTML, HEAD, and BODY, even though most browsers will work without them. Last revision: July 18, 1998
