The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program is a 36 semester-hour applied graduate program. Building upon a core of seven foundation courses and a capstone policy course, the MSIS program offers a wide variety of electives. Student may elect to create a specialty concentration from courses in e-Business Systems, Information Security Data Communications, and Systems Administration. Each of these concentrations prepares graduates for employment within niches of the IT profession experiencing critical shortages of employees. The average full time student taking 4 classes can successfully complete the program in 3 semesters. The average part time student taking 2 to 3 classes can complete the program in 4-6 semesters. Most of the core courses are offered every semester, along with a host of interesting electives. Characteristics of successful MSIS students The successful candidate for the MSIS program may be a practicing professional in the field of Information Systems or someone without a technical undergraduate degree who wants to use a state-of-the-art graduate degree as a means of leveraging a new career in IS. Applicants must be prepared to excel in a technical curriculum. The successful student will be interested in pursuing an advanced degree that reflects a strong technical emphasis and will require a program with flexible requirements, as well as flexible class scheduling. For more information, contact the program Director - Dr. Amy Woszczynski or the program coordinator - Ms. Wanda Sexton in the College of Science and Mathematics at Kennesaw State University.
