Course Descriptions:
IT 3300
Web Technologies will introduce students to the planning, design, implementation
and maintenance of World Wide Web applications. Web applications will
be developed using both high-end development environments as well as html.
Topics include tables, image maps, frames, security, ethical issues, application
development tools, and development methodologies.
IT 3700
Advanced applications of general purpose software with a special emphasis
on database systems, systems development activities, and the integration
of multiple software tools and data to solve a wide variety of business
related problems. Students study current topics in the application and
management of information technology at the worker, department, and enterprise
level.

IT 4525
The application of information technology to the buying and selling of
information, products, and services, via computer networks. Topics include
EDI, transactions over public networks, corporate digital libraries, advertising
and marketing on the Internet, and consumer-data interface.
IT 3500
Database Technologies covers the essentials of database concepts for non-IT
careers. Key topics include searching and querying, validation of electronic
data, data mining, data collection principles, privacy and fair use, related
intellectual property issues, integration of incompatible data sources,
database-driven web sites, and visual database programming. Tools include
SQL, Access, Personal Oracle and Visual Basic.

IT 3396
Approval of the IT Certificate Coordinator. Students must be in good standing
and qualified for participation in the KSU Co-op program. Visit the KSU
Career Services web site for more information.
A supervised work experience program for a minimum of two semesters at
a site in business, industry, or government. For sophomore, junior, or
senior level students who wish to obtain successive on-the-job experience
in conjunction with their academic training. Co-ops credit is 1-3 semester
hours per semester.
IT 3398
Approval of the IT Certificate Coordinator. Students must be in good
standing and qualified for participation in the KSU Internship program.

industry, or government. For sophomore, junior, or senior level students
who wish to obtain successive on-the-job experience in conjunction with
their academic training. Internship credit is 1-9 semester hours, depending
upon the assignment.
IT 4400
Approval of the IT Certificate Coordinator. Students must have a minimum
3.0 GPA to participate in a directed study. A Directed Study Proposal
must be completed and submitted to the IT Certificate Coordinator for
approval, prior to registration for IT 4400.
Special topics of an advanced nature that are not in the
regular course offerings. Students selecting this course to complete the
IT certificate must select a topic involving technology applications in
their chose career area.
