Advanced
Placement Standing Test for CSIS 2300
The
Advanced Placement Standing (APS) Test for CSIS 2300 is given in the
Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. If you are
considering taking the APS test for CSIS 2300, do the following:
-
Know
the rules that apply to APS tests and the credit they earn for a
class. Consult the KSU Undergraduate Catalog. An APS
test must be passed with a grade of 80% or higher. No letter
grade is earned - only the credit for the class. Your GPA will
not be affected
-
Review
the learning objectives for the course. CSIS 2300 is a
complicated course and contains conceptual and well as skill-based
material
-
Look
at the textbook for the course. If you are not well-versed in
the material covered in the text, you probably will not do well on the
APS test
-
Once
you have assessed your candidacy for the test and wish to proceed, go
to the KSU Registrar's Office, register for the test, and pay the fee
(currently $25.00, but subject to change). Keep your receipt
-
Call
the CSIS Department at 423-6005 and speak with the CSIS 2300
Coordinator (currently Dr. Jorge Perez). Arrange a testing date
with the coordinator. You must show the coordinator your receipt
before you will be allowed to take the APS test
-
The
CSIS 2300 Coordinator will score your exam and report the
outcome to you and the Registrar's Office. If you passed
with a score of 80% or higher, credit for CSIS 2300 will appear on
your transcript
