IT 3500 Database Technologies

 

Prerequisite

CSIS 2300 Principles of Computing or its equivalent.

Description

Database Technologies covers the essentials of database concepts for non-IT careers.  Key topics include searching and querying, validation of electronic data, data mining, data collection principles, privacy and fair use, related intellectual property issues, integration of incompatible data sources, database-driven web sites, and visual database programming.  Tools include SQL, Access, Personal Oracle and Visual Basic.

Objectives

After completing the course, students will be able to effectively use database systems and the information they contain in a variety of sophisticated applications.
