Selection Process:
The student must apply with a letter (requirement 7) to the Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Until the death of Dr. Leon L. Combs, he and The Chemistry Department Selection Committee (The Chair and one Professor and one Associate Professor both from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry) will choose the recipient out of the pool of applicants. The award will only be made each semester if Dr. Combs and The Selection Committee decide that a suitable candidate is in the pool of applicants. Dr. Combs will be notified of the recipient and the recipient is required to write a letter of thanks to him upon notification of the award.
