The 21st century has been called the “Century of Biology”. With exciting advances in biotechnology, an increased awareness of the importance of understanding ecosystems, and the continued demand for science teachers, now is a great time to earn a degree in one of the programs offered in our department. We have a dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to helping you achieve your goals.
Here in the Department of Biology and Physics we offer bachelors degrees in Biology, Biotechnology and Biology Education. The required coursework in all three programs provides you with a solid foundation in the natural sciences as well as a foundation in the “liberal arts” needed to succeed in our global society. At the same time, our programs are designed to provide flexibility so that the degrees offered provide some in-depth study within a single sub-discipline or track. This flexibility allows you to tailor your program to fit your specific needs and interests. Many of our 1100 declared majors take advantage of the opportunity to work directly with KSU faculty on a research project. Others gain valuable experience by accepting internships with off-campus agencies and businesses or by availing themselves of opportunities to study abroad. Graduates from our degree programs are very successful and go on for advanced degrees in biology, dentistry, medicine, veterinary medicine as well as moving directly into the workforce.
I invite you to browse our website and strongly encourage you to talk to your advisor. Learn about the opportunities that await you in our department. A degree in the biological sciences is truly a degree for the 21st Century.
