PHYS 1111 is an introduction to classical mechanics, waves, and thermodynamics. Basic principles and concepts will be introduced and explained. Problem solving will be emphasized. Attendance in all laboratories is a requirement for passing the course. Homework is an integral part of the course for which credit will be given.

Grading for the course wil be as follows: A >90%; B 80%-90%; C 70%-80%; D 60%-70%; F <60%
