COURSES FOR FIRST SEMESTER FRESHMAN BIOLOGY/biotech/biology education MAJORS

The very first thing you need to do after you register for Orientation is to take the Online Math Placement Test at: http://placement.kennesaw.edu .

If it places you in Math 1111 College Algebra then you will not be able to take Chemistry 1211/L until the following semester.  This chemistry is co-requisite with either Math 1112 or Math 1113

Here is a list of courses for which there are no prerequisities other than learning support.  For your first semester as a Biology/BioTech/BioEd major, you are safe taking any of these courses.  If you are PreMed, PreVet, PreDental you will probably want to major in Biology/BioTechnology and follow these guidelines as well.

If you are only going part-time, the first three courses are the ones in which you should enroll to ensure relatively smooth progress through the major.  After the first four, there is no order implied in terms of importance in maintaining progress towards degree completion.  Highlighted is the ideal first semester course list for an entering freshman.  Concentrate on your Math & Science courses every semester and add in your General Education ("core") requirements a little at a time so that ideally you have a few Gen Ed &/or Free Electives left for your senior year.  12 hours is considered Full time.  Plan on taking 2-3 science courses per semester.
