The College of Science and Mathematics is home to the departments
of Biological and Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science
and Information Systems and Mathematics. Staffed by faculty with
exceptional teaching skills and applied research interests, these
departments have gained nationwide recognition for the success
of their faculty and graduates. The college's degree programs
offer curricula that are state-of-the-art and challenging. Opportunities
abound for students to develop a strong identity with their respective
departments through student organizations and mentor relations
with the faculty.
The college
offers baccalaureate degree programs in biology, chemistry, computer
science, information systems and mathematics, a master's degree
in information systems, and a certificate program in information
technology. Close, collaborative relationships exist between the
departments and the College of Education. These collaborations
are reflected in the strong content areas in Science and Mathematics
Education programs. Secondary education majors receive the same
in-depth course work in the disciplines of science and mathematics,
as do students majoring in these fields.
