Enhance your marketability with the Biomedical Certificate Program offered through Kennesaw State University’s College of Science and Mathematics.

The College of Science and Mathematics, in collaboration with leading biomedical and pharmaceutical companies in Georgia, has developed a novel certificate program to provide you with the basic knowledge and skills for careers in the specialized fields of regulatory affairs and clinical trials.

The Biomedical Certificate Program was designed in response to the growing need for trained employees in the areas of regulatory affairs and clinical trials. Currently, Georgia’s life sciences industry employs more than 2,250 people in the these strategically important areas in the pharmaceutical and biomedical industries. Most of these jobs are considered premium positions with starting salaries in the mid-$40,000 range and average annual salaries over $60,000.

Course Requirements

The Biomedical Certificate Program is open to undergraduate students majoring in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology. The program consists of four three-hour courses that can also fulfill major elective requirements, and an internship with a leading biomedical or pharmaceutical company in the metro Atlanta area. The courses must be taken in sequence and require approximately one year to complete.

Drugs, Biologics, Devices and Diagnostics: Conception to Regulatory Approval
Grade of “C” or better in BIOL 3300 or CHEM 3361/3361L
STAT 3125:
Biostatistics
MATH 1113 or MATH 1112 and BIOL 2107 or CHEM 1212
BTEC 3410:
Experimental Design and Analysis for Product Registration and Clinical Trial
Grade of “C” or better in BTEC 3400 and STAT 3125
BTEC 3420:
Project Management: Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Trials
Grade of “C” or better in BTEC 3400 and STAT 3125

Upon completion of the required courses, students must complete an internship (BTEC 4320).
