In this project we will evaluate the degree to which humans have altered the landscape in our area.  Further instructions will be handed out in class (or download here).

• Part 1 of this project involves assessing whether plots of land in the areas surrounding Atlanta have been disturbed within historical times.  You will find an area of land and stretch of stream that is not presently developed, describe those areas, and compare your descriptions to a description of the land in this area prior to settlement by Europeans. 

• Part 2 of this project is an in-class discussion (in groups) comparing your results with the results found by your classmates.  I will provide your group with a series of questions to direct your discussion.  The analysis will focus on developing a consensus on the degree to which humans have altered the local landscape.  You must be present and participate on this date (listed below) to receive full credit for this project.
