Welcome to the College of Science and Mathematics at Kennesaw State University. Whether you are a visitor, one of our current students or a future member of the college, I’m proud to introduce you to our college and the fine faculty and staff that make it a dynamic and productive place to be. Our Department of Mathematics and Statistics is now housed in their own building and we have a newly formed Department of Computer Sciences. We are especially excited about the construction of a 73,500 square foot laboratory building that will house research and teaching laboratories for the Department of Biology and Physics as well as the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The laboratory addition is scheduled to open in Fall 2012.
In the College of Science and Mathematics we offer B.S. degrees in biology, biotechnology, biology education, chemistry (with a chemistry education track), biochemistry, computer science, mathematics and mathematics education. We also offer a M.S. degree in applied statistics as well as the Masters of Arts in Teaching degree in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. Our programs provide students with an excellent education and an exposure to new ideas with an emphasis on “scientific and mathematical literacy.” They are taught by faculty and supported by staff whose aim is to produce graduates who can use what they’ve learned to succeed in graduate school, professional school or in the workforce, as well as in their everyday lives. Our faculty are active scholars engaged in research that helps us better understand the world in which we live and contributes to the solution of a number of social, environmental, educational and economic challenges we face.
I encourage you to peruse our website for more information about each department in the college. Or, better yet, visit us in person! You will learn about all the impressive accomplishments and achievements of our faculty, staff, and students as well as the great opportunities that await future members of our college.
